DON'T FORGET TO BRING YOUR HELMET!

Volunteer safety professionals will ensure that your child is wearing the proper helmet and that it fits properly.

Our tentative schedule is as follows:
Monday:  Water/Weather Safety Day AND Fitting Bike Helmets
Tuesday:  Animal Safety Day - PICTURE DAY - WEAR T-SHIRT!!!
Wednesday:  School Bus Safety Day/Poison Safety Day
Thursday:  Stranger Day
Friday:  Fire Safety Day/GRADUATION WEAR T-SHIRT!
Special announcements will be posted on this website.
Each day your child will bring home their activity for the day and handouts explaining what they learned for that particular safety topic.  Please be sure to ask your child about the day's safety message.  In addition to individual safety topics, each day the children will have time to "ride" or "walk" the town, under the supervision of a Woodstock City Police Officer or Cherokee County Sheriff.

PARENTS - PLEASE PLAN TO STAY FOR A PARENT MEETING IN THE LOBBY ON THE FIRST DAY - THIS MEETING WILL ONLY TAKE A FEW MINUTES.

  • PLEASE dress your child in gym shoes - NO CROCS OR SANDELS - and comfortable play clothes
  • Parents of girls - please place ponytails low - not on the top of their heads - the helmets won't fit properly with high ponytails
  • PLEASE discuss the safety message of the day with your child
  • Please let us know if your child has animal allergies

Please escort your child into the school cafeteria between 8:45 and 8:55 am.  At that time, your child will be assigned his/her permanent group for the week.  A nametag which contains all emergency information will be given to wear each day.  PLEASE REVIEW THE NAMETAG FOR ACCURACY.

The first activity starts at 9 am.
SNACKS ARE PROVIDED EACH DAY.  If your child requires special food, please send in his/her own snack.  Also, please note that we are not able to administer medications.

Please note that each day special guest speakers will address the Safety Message of the Day which sometimes means we have to alter the pick up, drop off, or parking locations.  This is done for the safety of the children.

PLEASE BE PREPARED TO PICK UP YOUR CHILD AT 12 NOON.  We ask that you park and come into the building to pick up your child and his/her belongings.  It's a great opportunity for you to come and watch the wrap up and for us to speak to you if need be.  Please send a note if your child is to ride with another parent.  IF YOU GET DELAYED or need to contact us, please CALL 678-234-0456 OR 404-626-4080.

NEW - A "CODE WORD" WILL BE REQUIRED TO RELEASE YOUR CHILD.  PLEASE REFER TO THE DIRECTIONS ON THE REGISTRATION FORM.  PLEASE NOTE THAT YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE RELEASED TO ANYONE WHO DOES NOT KNOW THE CODE WORD - REGARDLESS OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO THE CHILD!  The requirement of a code word emphasizes what they are taught as part of the stranger day program.

Lastly, every attempt is made to honor a request for friends to be in the same group.  However, there are sometimes circumstances that will prevent us from honoring this request (friend group is too large, last minute enrollment).   Children in different groups does not impact car pooling.  Please be patient and remember that your child will have a wonderful experience while making new friends!

We are looking forward to a wonderful week at Safety Town!

See you soon.

Debi and Meredith

Parents, family and friends are invited to attend a short graduation ceremony on Friday which will begin at 11:45 am.  Please note that because of graduation, we will run past 12 noon.   DON'T FORGET YOUR CAMERA!  AND PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD WEAR HIS/HER T-SHIRT!
